2024 March 8, Eagle Pass, TX
Axon Global is a keynote speaker at the Association of Hispanic Municipal Officials (AHMO). At the request of the Honorable Marissa Ximinez, the Honorable René Peña and the Honorable Daniel Tejeda, the CEO of Axon Global spoke on both days of the conference on March 7th and 8th, joining other municipal and industry leaders. AHMO “encourages the exchange of up-to-date information about trends affecting Hispanic city officials in the State of Texas, through meetings, reports, correspondence”. Martinez’s speech focused on the “why” Texas is a preferred place to do business, and the impact cyber & technology innovation will have on municipalities in terms of risk and benefits. Martinez borrowed a quote from Charlie Amato, Co-Founder of SWBC in San Antonio, “make your friends before you need them” , as a theme for how we will need to lead on each other in times of duress because of future cyberattacks. At the conclusion of the conference Martinez stated, “it was one of the most well organized and rewarding conferences I’ve ever attended.”
The conference also gave the opportunity for Axon members to visit the (in)famous Shelby Park, a 47-acre city park along the Rio Grande where the Texas/Federal standoff has been featured as they struggle to find a cooperative solution to the stream of immigrants crossing the border. Axon members were able to visit with city officials and to see the border crossing first-hand to better understand the potential geopolitical impact of recent border immigration on U.S. Critical Infrastructure, cybersecurity and identity security.
