Axon Global CEO Israel Martinez recently served as a judge at the 2025 ABA Law Student Division’s Representation in Mediation Regional Competition, held at the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law. The event brought together law students from across the region to compete in simulated mediations based on real-world legal disputes.
The competition challenged participants to advocate for their clients in a mediation setting using actual court documents rather than hypothetical scenarios. Each team was provided confidential settlement memos specific to their roles, and students were prohibited from conducting outside research on the cases, ensuring a consistent and focused approach to preparation and strategy.
Martinez, a seasoned executive and cybersecurity expert, joined a panel of legal professionals in evaluating the students’ performances. Judges scored each round using detailed criteria provided in advance, offering feedback on communication, problem-solving, and negotiation techniques critical to success in alternative dispute resolution.
“It was an honor to support the next generation of legal professionals,” said Martinez. “Their preparation, poise, and professionalism were incredibly impressive—especially in a format that mirrors real-life legal challenges so closely.”
The ABA Law Student Division extended its gratitude to all judges, including Martinez, for contributing their time and expertise to the competition. Their involvement provided valuable real-world insights and mentorship to aspiring attorneys.
